Welcome to the great land of Land-o-Lump, where your new Clump-o-Lump friends are nearly bursting out of their zipper to meet you!
Say hello to Tig-o the Tiger, Frog-o-Frog, Shark-o the Shark, Bee-o the Bee, Squid-o the Squid, and Bird-o the Bird! These adorable creatures are a part of our inaugural family of stuffed animals that zip apart into three whimsical pieces—head, torso, and rump—so they can be mixed, matched, and multiplied. A real-life mathematician even calculated that over 2,303 Clump-o-Lump combinations are possible—from charming “two-fers” to ten-foot-long “totem poles.”
You probably know Knock Knock, Clump-o-Lump’s purveyor, as creators of witty gift and stationery products and publishers of smartly funny books. So what’s up with the stuffed animals? Two answers—first, we see Knock Knock more as a sensibility than a product category. If it’s smart, fun, irreverant, and unique, we’re in. Second, we just plain old fell in love.
Clump-o-Lump crossed our paths at a 2010 “Bringing Your Product to Market” class at Pasadena’s famed Art Center College of Design. Knock Knock head honcho Jen Bilik was guest lecturing, and the class was presenting. Industrial design student Max Knecht whipped his Clump-o-Lump prototypes (for which he taught himself to sew!) out of a vintage briefcase, and Jen was smitten.
Zip past some acquisition, collaboration, and lots of late nights to January 2012, and we’re beyond delighted to introduce Clump-o-Lumps into the Knock Knock family! Like we have, we’re looking forward to your having the opportunity to hug them, squeeze them, zip them, unzip them, and create your own Clump-o-Lump with one-of-a-kind “clumpabilities”—but most of all, have fun with them!
Be sure also to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for the most up-to-date Clump-o-Lump news, contests, and stories! And we would love if you could tell us in a comment below which Clump-o-Lump is your favorite so far (each animal believes he or she is the most popular, so we would like to settle the ongoing score)!
So without further kerfluffle, let’s start Clump-o-Lumping!
